When you’re travelling in a group, it’s hard to keep everyone happy for the whole journey. That’s where these group games while travelling on a minibus can come to your rescue! Playing together is a great way to pass the time and make the travel part of the fun. Plus, it can help keep calm inside the bus so you can focus on the drive and avoid getting distracted. In this blog, we share our favourite group road trip games.
Fortunately, unfortunately
This is a game that keeps everyone in the minibus calm and listening to each other. In turn, your party crafts a story, with each sentence beginning with ‘fortunately’ or ‘unfortunately’. So, for example, person one could say: ‘Fortunately, we remembered the picnic basket.’ Person two could then add: ‘Unfortunately, we forgot to bring the flask to tea.’ And the story continues to build as you go round the minibus.
Find your ABCs
As you’re travelling, take it in turns to find items inside and outside the minibus that start with each letter of the alphabet. Starting with ‘a’ work your way through, spotting signs, landmarks, animals, and items until you’ve completed the full alphabet.

Name the tune
Take it in turns to play songs you love and see who can be the first one in the bus to correctly identify the name and artist. This is a great way to share your music tastes and give everyone a chance to control the tunes.

Geography
Travel with kids is also a great way to teach them more about the local geography. As you drive, get your young travellers to name as many towns and cities and county boarders as you go past them to help them orient themselves in the country and learn where places are in relation to each other.
Chain game
The chain game is a really easy one to play in a group and can take up a surprising amount of time. You pick a topic your travellers will know a lot about, for example celebrities, children’s TV characters, titles of films… whatever you fancy! You then take it in turns to name something from that category i.e. The Italian Job, and the next person must name another thing in the category that starts with the last letter, so Baby Driver.
