Who can drive a rental car?

If you’re wondering who can drive a rental car, you’ve come to the right place. With over 50 years of experience hiring cars, vans, Lutons and minibuses to customers in London, we’re the experts.

Over our time, we’ve had the pleasure of hiring to individuals and corporate clients, schools and colleges, local Government, and the police force. We’re first choice for affordable vehicle hire in London.

But who can we hire to?

To hire one of our cars, vans, Lutons and minibuses, you must be aged between 25 and 75 years old. For cars and vans, you must have held your driving license for more than two years. For minibus hire, you need to have held a D1 licence for over two years.

What else do you need to hire?

As well as your driving licence, most hire companies ask for a few extra checks before they’ll book your hire. These can include:

  • A licence check code, that you can get from: www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
  • Identification, such as a recent utility bill, passport, national insurance number
  • A deposit

Can more than one person drive the vehicle?

If you’re booking a vehicle for a long journey and you want to be able to share the drive, you need to make sure the second driver is insured. If they get behind the wheel without insurance and you get into an accident, not only is it against the law, you will likely be liable for all the costs.

But, it’s easy to add a named driver to your hire policy with us. Find out more about it here.
