Optimise your delivery routes
There’s no sense in driving backwards and forwards all day. If you want to increase your delivery outputs, make sure you plan a sensible route. Map out your day’s stops and plan your journey to fit in as many stops as possible along the way.
Prioritise your deliveries too
You should also think about prioritising your deliveries as well. Which customers have elected for next day delivery? Those will need to be dropped off with them first. But, of course, if you’ve got some non-rush items that are on-route, it’s a simple thing to deliver them on the way.
Minimise wasted space
Organise your deliveries so that your vans are packed full and you don’t waste the space that you have available to you. That way you won’t have to waste time in the day going back to the depot to collect more items.
Pack yourself a bag
As well as the things you have to deliver, pack yourself a bag before setting off in the morning. Fill it with food and drink that will keep you going throughout the day, have a pen and paper in case you need to make a note about a delivery, a torch for searching through your storage area, and a box cutter in case you have to separate parcels.

Plan in comfort breaks
You can’t be on the road all day. You need to have comfort breaks and times where you can stop and have a rest so that you don’t get fatigued. Planning in where you’re going to break your day makes it much easier for you to stick to your schedule and alleviates stress.
